Profile
Nongshim Co Ltd (Nongshim) is an instant noodle, snack and beverage company, also described by Bloomberg as a producer of refined palm oil and food ingredients. It was founded in 1965 under the name Lotte Industrial Company but changed its name in 1978 to NongShim Co Ltd. Though based in South Korea, they have 47 overseas brands.
Nongshim dominates the instant noodle market in South Korea with 70% of production. It also ranks first for sweet and savoury snacks and dried processed food, and third for all packaged food. In the noodle market, Nongshim is in the top 10 largest companies in US, Hong Kong, China and Australia, and is 6th overall in the world market. It has numerous brands, such as Shinramyun, Ansung tang myun, chapagetti and Neoguri. Nongshim noodles come in a variety of flavours, such as beef, chicken, vegetables and shrimp, packaged as packs, cups and bowls. The company is not limited to noodles (though this is its largest revenue stream, with 16 brands in total) and also produces shrimp crackers, honey twist and cuttlefish snacks, onion rings, potato chips, pizza, instant rice and drinks. The drinks section is wide in range, from fruit juice to fizzy drinks to coffee and water.
